What to wear, what to avoid, and how to find your rave style. Comfort first, always.
What to Consider
Comfort
You might dance non-stop for 8 hours in heat with hundreds of other people. Wear something you can move freely in and won't be thinking about.
Temperature Layers
Clubs get hot. Festivals get cold overnight. Layer up so you can adjust. A packable hoodie or jacket can be stored in a locker or small bag.
Freedom of Movement
Rave dancing can be full-body. Avoid anything that restricts your arms, legs or waist. Stretchy fabrics are your friend.
Style Archetypes
Find your rave identity — or mix and match across all of them.
Techno Dark
All black, industrial edge. Think Berghain, not Bestival. Oversized black tee, cargo trousers, chunky boots. Less is more.
UV Rave
Neon everything. UV reactive clothing glows electric under black lights. Pair with body paint, glitter, and glow accessories.
Festival Boho
Flowing fabrics, earthy tones mixed with bursts of colour. Practical, beautiful, layerable. Perfect for outdoor festival vibes.
Cyber Future
Metallic fabrics, LED accessories, reflective panels. PVC, chrome, holographic. The future is now and it's going to a rave.
What NOT to Wear
High heels
You'll be dancing for 6–10 hours. Your feet will not forgive you.
Restrictive or tight clothing
You need full range of movement. Comfort is king.
Your best jewellery
Things get lost, broken, and sweaty. Keep valuables at home.
White trainers (at festivals)
They will be destroyed by mud. Wear ones you don't care about.
Anything you'd be gutted to lose
Festivals eat belongings. Treat everything as expendable.
Footwear Guide
Club Rave
Clean trainers or boots. Smart enough for dress codes. Cushioned soles.
Outdoor Festival
Wellies for wet. Trail runners or boots for dry. Thick socks always.
Warehouse
Trainers are standard. Dark-soled for dirty floors. Breathable if it's hot.
Beach Rave
Sandals or go barefoot. Something you can easily take off.
UV Reactive Clothing Tips
- › Look for "UV reactive" or "neon" on product labels — not all bright colours glow
- › White clothing glows the brightest under black lights
- › UV body paint is safe and washes off easily — apply on clean, dry skin
- › Mesh and fishnet styles often show UV paint underneath beautifully
- › Test under a UV torch before the event
- › UV accessories: bracelets, earrings, face gems all add to the effect
